Services to Armed Forces

Emergency assistance: Call 1-800-696-3873 24 hours a day. We provide members of the military and their families a channel for emergency communication, access to support, and assistance for family "disasters" or crisis situations.

Stationed with military forces around the world, Red Cross has personnel trained and ready to deliver emergency messages with compassion. If the emergency calls for the service member to return home, our verification process provides the military with the information they need to make emergency leave decisions.

Military members ready to deploy are given information on how to use Red Cross services through the Get To Know Us Before You Need Us program.

Health & Safety Services

CPR and First Aid training saves lives! Red Cross offers community classes open to the general public and full service training for businesses. Companies can also conduct own in-house training with a member of their staff trained as an authorized Red Cross instructor.

Babysitter's Training, swimming and lifeguard training is also available. Call 785-462-7161 for more information.

Babysitter’s Training Course
This course give young people ages 11 - 15 the skills and confidence to care for infants through school-age children. This program is interactive and activity-based that builds self-confidence and competence by practicing decision-making and managing real-life situations. Topics inclue safety issues, preventing injuries and illnesses, basic childcare, first aid, care for choking and age-appropriate behavior and play.

STUDENTS SHOULD BRING A SACK LUNCH WITH THEM TO CLASS.

Cost:  $25-$40, includes all books and materials.  Pre-registration required one week before class.
